Mar's COAT KING - The Favorite Grooming Tool of Professionals across the Country! You've heard about this - and may have had the fortune of trying one while with your groomer! They are great on Bouvier coats! These wonderful tools are a combination of knife/stripper/matt breaker/comb all rolled into one!

Mars has outdone itself with this grooming tool. Like a rake, each tine is in fact a sharp knife blade that 'slices' through the coat. It easily breaks up dead hair, thick undercoat and even mats and knots. Using the rake, like a comb, you simply slide through the heaviest of coats and produce a show finish quickly!

This is the #10 Mars COAT KING. The size number indicates the number of blades in one handle. The frame is about 1 1/8 - 1 1/2 inches across the top. One handle can hold from 6 blades, to 20 blades! The spacing between the blades makes the difference on how it works the coat. This one, the #10 is referred to as coarse.

You use a coarse Coat King to do the basic prep work, get out the undercoat, etc. You then can use a fine Coat King to do the finishing work.

Our experience, along with comments from many professional Bouvier Handlers and groomers, is that the #10 is great for basic work with our heavy coated kids, but caution is emphasized not to use it too much as you can cause a whole - right down to the skin! If your critter doesn't have that heavy of a coat, consider using the #12 for your roughing out! Almost all of the folks agree that the #16 (Fine) is the perfect finishing tool.
